Cycle Cat PP series billet aluminum clutch pressure plates are designed to be used alone, or in concert with Cycle Cat's CC series of clutch covers, to provide the maximum possible protection of a Ducati dry clutch. The time invested in the design of these was extraordinary, because two objectives had to be met simultaneously:
1) the lightest possible weight, and
2) the maximum possible protection of the clutch springs and their mounting posts, in the event of a crash, or the intrusion of a foreign object into the clutch area.
To achieve its desired crash-tolerance, the pressure plate design incorporates raised bosses into which the clutch springs and mounting posts are recessed, making them virtually inaccessible to anything which might otherwise take them out of commission, prematurely ending a race, track day, or other ride. To achieve its strength and light weight, the DPP1 was, as one of our staff commented, "digitized, cadded, cammed, and machined to hell and back", until strength exceeded objectives, and mass was minimized.
Installation is made especially easy by the inclusion of brand new factory-installed, double-sealed ball bearings, making it unecessary to press the old bearing out of the original pressure plate, or acquire a bearing for, and install one in, the DPP1.
Having loaded the DPP1s with performance, structural, and convenience features, we went one step further, and finished them off in a range of seven anodized colors, designed to compliment any bike's paint and accessory scheme, and/or coordinate with sponsor graphics. Beyond that, when combined with CC series clutch covers, there are 28 color combinations possible. Also available, Cycle Cat's new SK Series billet clutch spring keepers, available in 7 standard finishes. So whether its black with red or titanium with silver, the stunning looks of this kit will seem justification enough to protect your clutch.
For those wishing the ultimate in protection and performance, Cycle Cat now offers the DPP1 equipped with a cebera ceramic bearing. These pressure plates, which are our models DPPC1, reduce rotational mass, friction, drag, and wear on the engine output train.
